Jared and I were huge fans of the bread bowl salads at Perkins and were very sad when they took them off the menu. I was determined to learn to make my own so that we could still have them once in a while. You can use frozen bread dough or your favorite bread recipe.
- 1 pound bread dough (if you are making your own dough, you could get a little creative with some spices and things)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Prepare dough according to recipe if making your own or thaw the frozen loaf.
- Divide bread dough into fourths.* Roll each fourth into an 8 inch circle.
- Brush the back of 4 oven-safe bowls with oil or cooking spray. Place bowls upside down on a baking sheet. Place dough circles on bowls. Brush edge of dough with water and fold it back into a "hem" to make a bowl rim.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes.
*This is for a 1 pound loaf, if you make up enough dough for a larger loaf plan to divide the dough into more pieces (1 lb loaf = 4 bowls, 1.5 lb loaf = 6 bowls, 2 lb loaf = 8 bowls).
