Skinny Caramel Latte

I thoroughly enjoy a good latte but don't make it to a coffee shop very often for one. The other day I decided to try making my own. It turned out pretty good and I enjoyed it in the peace and quiet while the kids played in the other room.
Ingredients
  • 1/2-3/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1-1 1/2 cups skim milk (the big thing is keeping the milk to coffee ratio 2:1)
  • 2-3 tbsp fat free ice cream topping or Torani sugar free syrup (if you don't care about the calories, you could make up some delicious salted caramel sauce and use that instead)
  • pint-sized mason jar
Mmmmm...

It's all shook up, uh huh huh, all shook up! :o)
Directions
Microwave milk in the pint jar for 2 minutes. Add caramel. Place the lid on the jar and shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds. Pour the milk and coffee into your favorite coffee mug. Voila!

*National Coffee Day (September 29, 2013) Update*

Decided to try a salted caramel latte with homemade salted caramel sauce and it was AMAZING! I've included the link in the sauce recipe.

I couldn't decide between caramel and dark chocolate peppermint
when I took the picture as both are delicious. You could make a dark chocolate
peppermint latte instead of caramel just by switching the syrups.
Granted the York syrup has a much stronger flavor  so you don't have to use
as much syrup to get the same flavor intensity as the caramel.
